  • At first I found that I felt guilty reading this book and thinking, there is no way that I can ever be half of the woman that she was But, after talking to my husband and reading about the story where Sister Hinckley shares some of her own mothering weaknesses, I realized that she probably didn t start out perfect At the end in her talks, she voices the opinion that she is old and doesn t have to try to impress people now She is what she is I like knowing that I can work hard to hopefully come t [...]

  • This book is about Marjorie Pay Hinckley, the wife of Gordon B Hinckley, a president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints It took me a bit to get into it because it s arranged in an odd way It s not a biography by any means, and I did wish for of a life story at least in the beginning The book is a collection of the memories of Marjorie s friends and family and of her own talks and writings. However, as I pressed on through the book, I was really quite inspired, touched, and amuse [...]

  • What a beautiful glimpse into the heart and life of an amazing woman Her boundless love and her acceptance of self were just heartwarming My favorite parts in the book had to do with her consistent call to be yourself and that you are unique and that your role in life, and your ability to love and serve, is unique I felt a strong sense of love and acceptance while reading It s nice to feel that you can look up to someone yet be inspired to live life as yourself in your own good way.

  • To be fair, I would probably give this book 4.5 stars, but there are no half star ratings I have wanted to read a book about Marjorie Hinckley for a long time, so I finally coughed up my small change and orderd this one from Thrift Books I m glad I did She is was a delightful, inspriring person and I loved being a part of her world for a short time through this book. The great part about this is book is that you can pick it up and put it down as much as you want and not skip a beat It is written [...]

  • What an inspiring woman I loved this book President and Sister Hinckley spoke to our mission in Hong Kong in 1996 Afterward, I was alone trying to keep up with my companion when the elevator door opened at the chapel and Marjorie Hinckley smiled and waved at me I couldn t see President Hinckley, but he called out Hello It was such a brief encounter And I treasure it I didn t expect to laugh so much when I read this book, but I did She swore once at her children and then washed her own mouth out [...]

  • I have been reading this book since right after Seth was born in 2005 It s not that it s not engaging, it s a bunch of short stories, portions of talks, and quotes from her family and friends so it s easy to read some and then come back to it later I find myself drawn to it when having a bad day or need an uplift I am always encouraged by the wonderful example Sister Hinckley is through this book and know that I can do better and maybe I m not doing as bad as I thought

  • I loved reading this book It was so positive and uplifting, and exactly what I needed to read at this time She was such an inspiring woman with so many great attributes I love how she tried to find joy in the journey even though it s not always easy This was a fun read.

  • 3.5 I liked reading a little about Marjorie Pay Hinckley, as I ve always admired the stories I ve heard about her good natured, easy going charm and wit I didn t love the format of this book, and actually found it distracting, as it toggles between commentaries about her from family and friends in black font and her own words in purple font that almost looks just like the black font It was inspiring to consider her many strengths, and I loved how full of light and hope the words were I did feel [...]

  • The I learn about Marjorie Hinckley, the I am in awe of the kind of woman she is I loved hearing about her from the people who knew her best, it left me inspired to be a better person And I cannot even say enough good about her own words Every time she was quoted and each talk I read by her blew me away She has a way of speaking that makes you feel like you can be the kind of person she is talking about, that you already are if you simply choose to be Reading this book has helped me strive to [...]

  • Marjorie Hinckley is one of my heroes I look up to her and want to be like her in so many ways I loved reading about her life and the amazing things she has taught through her words and example Warning this book may make you feel bad about yourself if you are as imperfect as I am It is hard not to compare yourself to her and realize you come up short very short But if you can stop comparing and just read the book to be inspired, then read this book.

  • A fitting tribute to a remarkable person I heard Marjorie Hinckley speak once when I was a teenager and was instantly struck at her warmth and goodness This book encapsulates all of that by using personal testimony from those that knew her best I learned so much from her experiences and it made me want to be better I felt like some of the sections were too long and slightly redundant, but that is just my opinion and I m sure it was a labor of love for Mrs Pearce to put this book together.

  • Marjorie Pay Hinckley was an incredible woman, and I have enjoyed reading about her time and time again She becomes a role model that inspires and makes it seem possible to become a better person I also enjoyed the format of this book It is far from being a dry biography.

  • This is my go to book whenever I need a pick me up By far, one of the most treasured books I own I love her insights, her example of faith and service and devotion.

  • I spent the whole year slowly reading this book, and it s entirely possible I ll spend next year rereading it So much to learn from this great lady.

  • Loved this motivational book of Sister Hinckley s insights Great underlining advice I d give the advice a 5 but the layout method lost my interest sometimes Still you have to read it Here are some of my favorite quotes to live by from the book About Faith I have seen too much and experienced too much to ever deny it He lives He is truly my Father, and the Savior is my Savior in every sense of that word If I can just be one voice to say that God lives and that this is His work, I will be satisfi [...]
