For the most part I write short stories, and while many of them were first published in literary journals, in 2014, I had two collections of my stories published at the same time, Mercy with Tartarus Press, which is a beautifully made hardback book, and The View from Endless Street, a paperback published by WiDo.Some of my stories could be described as psychological horror and others as magic real For the most part I write short stories, and while many of them were first published in literary journals, in 2014, I had two collections of my stories published at the same time, Mercy with Tartarus Press, which is a beautifully made hardback book, and The View from Endless Street, a paperback published by WiDo.Some of my stories could be described as psychological horror and others as magic realism, and from time to time I write about ghostly things What interests me most is the inventive ways we deal with what life throws at us, and the ability many of us have to slip easily between our invented worlds and the shared world, as if travelling back and forth down a long worn path

  • Danny Broadaxe looks after his disabled dad He has to clean the house, make the dinner and remind his dad to take his pills and do his walking exercises And although Danny gets a bit tired sometimes, he just gets on with things After losing his mum in the same accident that injured his dad, Danny grew up fast and is a responsible kid, but he d really like to go on a holiday. When his neighbour John Seeping asks Danny to look after his tropical fish, his Dad isn t happy at first Danny s not su Dan [...]

  • Overall a beautifully written book I felt the fantasy aspect of it wasn t necessarily needed, it would have been a brilliant book just focusing on Danny and his Dad after the accident and how they cope It is written from an 11 year old s point of view and Lloyd gets that across very well from questions asked to how Danny is feeling I d say it was an inspirational read for Young Carer s but I think the fantasy side of things let s that down a little.

  • Rating this four stars as it represents the positive reaction from my reading group of 10 students aged 10 11 It really appealed to them and the fantasy elements enhanced the overall reading experience for them Lots of discussion about how we prejudge others, how hard life must be for so many young carers, how we all have flaws A resounding success as a group read for this age group.

  • The whole plot of the story is so lonely I love the first parts but I hate the ending It s very mysterious.

  • I love Danny but overall I couldn t get into this book It just felt like so much could have happened It was to slow and a little fustrating at times.
