  • Beautiful, largely monochromatic sketches do wonders to evoke Toronto Can t say much but definitely worth getting to know this book, looking through it, leaving it for a rest and then revisiting it.

  • Simply beautiful It lets the familiar come to life I ll probably never look at an ugly street the same way again.

  • Actually read this a couple years ago got it for Christmas , but didn t realize it was on.Michael Cho is a fantastic artist, his work in comics and other illustration is superb But this book, these images of Toronto, are my favourites Superb talent Highly recommend everyone checks out his work, and picks up this book.

  • What a beautiful book I didn t grow up in Toronto, but in the past several years I ve lived and visited places that look similar to the drawings in this book, and Cho gets them exactly right His use of ink, colour, light, shadow, line, texture, it s all bang on The notes throughout the book were nice to read too A nice touch that the last words are the city keeps changing.

  • Lots of repetition, but I can dig it Cho s simple scenes among the alleys at night were the most evocative, but each light experiment had something interesting going on Dude needs to put out work.

  • Technically, these are sketches of Toronto However, the book comes off as a celebration of the universality of urban back alley landscapes Cho has a great eye for exposing the alone in a crowded room sense of the urban experience.

  • Gorgeously rendered images of Toronto s scruffy back alleys The humble bump outs, the tilting back sheds, the quirky balconies are all captured in their humble glory.

  • Such a beautiful book Cho has true talent Able to evoke mood and emotion with a simple line Can t wait to see from him.
